Utilities Surveyor – Telford Base
£26,000 to £30,000 PA DOE plus up to £6,000 overtime
Shropshire based leaders in Geomatic Surveying are looking to hire a number of Utilities Surveyors into their business due to expansion of their projects and planned growth in the business in both new and existing sectors. The client is an innovator in new technology and have re-invented conventional digital surveying techniques in line with tired and tested quality and safety systems.
The role day to day will involve supporting senior surveyors and project managers to conduct rail surveys within a number of different settings and environments. You will have the ability to plan and complete small and medium sized survey jobs and manage their delivery time scales. Sometimes the environments can be challenging so you will need to be able to improvise and adapt to problems to solve them but, also know when to escalate issues to senior team members. Communication is key to this role to ensure that you are able to brief your team members on site and to be able to liaise with end clients. The types of survey tasks you will carry out include; topographic, utility, laser scanning and office data processing. The sectors in which we specialise are; rail and guided transport, highways and bridges, aviation and airside, estates and property, energy & utilities and environmental & marine.
- Responsible for undertaking utilities and topographical surveys
- Manhole lifting and assisting with the observations and measurements
- Locating utilities via electromagnetic locators and ground penetrating radar
- Total station and GPS/GNSS observations
- Working with the latest technology – Stream Up
- Create Utility Survey drawings and Reports
- Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties that may arise
- Mentor and train less experienced team members as and when required
- Management and maintenance of survey equipment
- Production of CAD Drawings from Survey Data
- Post Processing of GPR Data in GREDHD and IQ Maps
- Assistance in the overall development of the survey department
- Adherence to Company manuals and processes
PTS and CSCS accreditations are required, so willingness to complete is essential. You must be aware that due to the nature of the work you must be able to drive with a full UK driving licence and be willing to take and pass regular drug and alcohol screening. Flexibility in working hours, the willingness to travel and to work outside in adverse weather conditions are all essential requirements of this role. This role will be primarily site based and consist of night shifts, Monday to Thursday night with overtime opportunities at the weekend.
